Clinical Skills Training

 The Clinical Skills courses are designed to develop essential skills for accurate patient assessment and improve clinical decision-making through hands-on scenarios. It enables participants to apply evidence-based techniques confidently during patient evaluations. 

 By the end of the course, learners will be equipped to conduct thorough and systematic patient assessments, interpret clinical findings efficiently, and utilise fundamental physical examination techniques. Emphasis is also placed on effective communication throughout patient interactions. 

 Participants begin with an introduction to the principles and importance of comprehensive patient assessment. This foundation is followed by detailed guidance on structuring clinical interviews, enhancing communication skills, and gathering relevant medical histories. Physical examination techniques are explored through practical instruction, helping learners to identify normal and abnormal findings across multiple body systems. 

 Equip staff with essential first aid skills to respond confidently to medical emergencies. 

 Learn to identify early signs of patient decline using clinical indicators and the NEWS2 scoring system. 

 Enhance awareness and rapid response skills for identifying and managing sepsis. 

 Strengthen competence in the safe administration, documentation, and handling of medications. 

 Build practical knowledge in assessing, dressing, and monitoring various types of wounds. 

 Develop safe and effective techniques for managing catheter use and preventing complications. 

 Techniques for inspecting the skin and identifying conditions such as lesions or rashes. 

 Includes inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation, with an emphasis on abnormal breath sounds. 

 Examination methods for ears, nose, throat, and lymph nodes. 

 Assessment of thyroid function and recognition of hormonal imbalance signs. 

 Inspection, palpation, and auscultation methods to understand heart sounds and functions. 

 Includes abdominal assessment, organ palpation, and evaluating kidney and bladder health. 

 Covers cranial nerve testing, motor/sensory assessment, and reflex evaluation. 

 Focus on visual acuity, pupil reactions, eye movements, and common conditions. 

 Instruction on joint examinations, range of motion assessments, and common musculoskeletal diagnoses.
